Organisation description

The Department of Technology and Society, Lund University, conducts broad and comprehensive research in the field of roads and transport that provides unique opportunities for cooperation across prevailing areas of expertise. The division of Traffic engineering (prof. Christer Hydén and Andràs Vàrhelyi) has long devoted great attention to traffic safety. Other important concerns are IT, model development and transport economics. The most important research areas in the division of Traffic Planning (prof. Bengt Holmberg) are public transport planning, accessibility for older and functionally impaired people (prof. Agneta Ståhl) cooperating with the Department of Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine), environmental and energy matters and regional planning. Research at the division of Road Construction (ass.prof. Monica Berntman and Peter Ekdahl) primarily involves the fields of analytical dimensioning of road construction, carrying capacity, material characteristics of unbound materials and winter road maintenance.

Contribution to the project

LUND University will contribute to the collection of data concerning legislation, national regulation and best practices. LUND University will be also the work-package leader concerning the data available for the needs of people with disability for accessible transport
