Users needs and expectation

Objectives

  • To review existing surveys on the needs of people with disabilities for accessible transport and employment strategy,
  • To review existing surveys highlighting the interaction between mobility and work/education access,
  • To develop a framework for mobility planning for people with disabilities.

Description of work

The work to be done will concern at a first level the review of all the data available from surveys on the needs of people with disabilities in terms of transport and active participation to society, including education and employment. This survey aims to clarify how well different user-groups’ needs are met in reality by public transport and how they are taken into account by the legal frameworks and regulations.
At this stage, the main national organization representing people with disabilities in each member state will be contacted and questioned about their potential role in the elaboration of their national policies regarding people with disabilities.

At a second level, the project will evaluate, in terms of planning, the change in mobility that could be achieved by making transport systems accessible.
It will also consider the potential effect on the rise in employment of people with disabilities.
